PocketSetter™

INFORMATION

 

A PocketSetter is magnetic wedge setter manufactured with magnets included in the tip in order to hold wedges in the proper position and orientation for insertion into an anchor prior to stressing.  By holding the wedges in the proper position and orientation the "wedge-uo" process is fast and fool proof.

 

Use of a PocketSetter leaves the pocket clean and free of grease and dirt, thereby allowing the grout to adhere properly to the inner surface of the pocket.

Step 1: Place the tool over the cable so the saddle part is down.		 .


Step 2: Keep one hand on the handle, place wedges on each side of the magnetic tip.

Step 3: With slide hammer in the back position, slide the tool along the Cable until the wedges start an anchorage.
Step 4: Slide hammer to stop point 2 to 3 times with a reasonable amount of force or until the wedges securely seat into the anchorage.
 

Safety Rules for a PocketSetterTM

  1. Always wear safety glasses and gloves when operating the PocketSetterTM
  2. Always tie the PocketSetterTM off when working in elevated areas using safety ring on the back of the handle.
  3. Keep the PocketSetterTM clean of PT grease and dirt.
  4. Keep hands and fingers clear of the front of the slide hammer and the slide hammer stop.
  5. Inspect the PocketSetterTM daily for damage, defects, cracks or excessive wear.

Proper Use of a PocketSetterTM

  1. Do not strike a PocketSetterTM with a hammer or any other tool.
  2. Never weld on a PocketSetterTM or come in contact with electrical current.  It will demagnetize the tip.
  3. Never use a PocketSetterTM for a pry-bar.
  4. Use a PocketSetterTM only for it’s intended purpose.
  5. Do not drop a PocketSetterTM.
  6. Keep the PocketSetterTM stored in a dry area.

Trouble Shooting

  1. Wedges do not stay on tip
    1. Excessive wear on tip – (replace tool)
    2. P.T. grease or foreign material on tip – (clean with rag.)
    3. Magnets have been demagnetized –(replace magnetic tip)
  2. Wedges will not seat into anchorage
    1. Concrete in anchorage – (remove concrete)
    2. Plastic shield from post tension cable in pocket –(remove)
    3. P.T. grease or foreign material in anchorage-(remove)
 
  1. Magnetic wedge setter will not fit  or slide post tension strand.
    1. Using 1/2 diameter PocketSetterTM. on 5/8 diameter. P.T. strand – (check the size of  P.T.and the size of the PocketSetterTM)
    2. Shaft of the PocketSetterTM has been bent – (replace the PocketSetterTM)
    3. P.T. grease or foreign material in saddle area (clean with rag)
  2. Slide hammer will not slide on shaft.
    1. Shaft is  bent – (replace tool)
    2. P.T. grease or foreign material has built up between shaft and slide hammer – (clean  with rag)
